It's no secret that different colors trigger different moods and that you choose a different color depending on your mood. This applies to clothing as well as furnishings – and not least to tableware. But while you can choose your plates at home, this is not typical in restaurants.
It would be a real eye-opener for guests if they could choose not only the dishes but also the color of their tableware. This would be a talking point at the table and a potential "icebreaker" among guests. But how do you put this into practice in a restaurant?
Individual, but combinable
First of all, you need suitable tableware. The individual pieces must be unique on the one hand and easy to combine on the other. The PERFECT MATCH collection from HEART & SOUL is a good example of this. The couplers and plates are available in the decorative colors Cumin, Avocado, Thyme, Oyster and Breeze. While the different colorways cover a very wide range from bold to delicate tones, they all share a Mediterranean, nature-inspired atmosphere and a handcrafted look. What's more, each piece is unique and differs in small details from the other items of the same shape and color. This offers individuality and at the same time ensures a uniform appearance.
Choose individual plates for the dishes
Although items are available in different colors, it is typically the restaurateur or chef who decides which plate the food is served on. It would be easy to let the guest make this choice individually when ordering. Most guests will be pleasantly surprised when the waiter asks for their favorite color. If you can't or don't want to decide spontaneously, you can of course still leave the choice up to the restaurant. If you are dealing with a group of indecisive guests, you can serve different plate colors at a table, depending on which shade suits the "type" of guest. Again, the appearance benefits from choosing a tableware collection that strikes a balance between a range of colors on the one hand and a uniform look on the other.
Digital personalization
If you think further about individualization, you can also allow the guest to select their favorite color when making a reservation. Sophisticated digital solutions have long been available for online reservations anyway. So why not offer a range of personalization options instead of just asking for the number of people? For example, you could offer a choice of seating areas (terrace, gallery, separée, etc.) as well as tabletop settings. This would certainly create a USP that would also be mentioned in online reviews.
